I am think about going back to school for either Medical Coding or Medical Claims and Billing Specialist?

I am just wondering which one would be the better choice?

In deciding maybe you should see what is in higher demand for where you live. Also check to see if there would be any difference in. Most importantly you need to do what will make you happy
Reply:I am going to tell you know, you will hate doing both jobs....Look for some thing else to go back to school for..you will be 40 years old and saying to your self why did I choose this career path....

Trust me...
Reply:Medical Coders make more money. What they do is read the persons visit with the doctor or specialist and they code the visit for insurance/patient. Usually billing specialists see the claims after the claims have been processed by the insurance company's and you will end up dealing with the denials. Figuring out what went wrong with the claim and how it needs to be adjusted to be resubmitted to the insurance company to be paid. It's not that bad of a job but you will grow tired of it. But it's not bad. So, it depends on you which job you would like to be doing on a day to day basis. Dealing with calling insurance companys about denials, or reading charts all day long and coding????? That's up to you. Good luck!
